Try a Little Ritual to Get Grounded

Does the shift from summer to fall make you feel a little off center and scattered? Do you feel you've got too many balls in the air with kids back to school or going off to university and maybe your own new courses? Suddenly the relatively relaxed summer seems to be a distant memory.

The sweet and simple routine below is designed using the wisdom of an ancient healing tradition and power of essential oils to help you stay grounded.

Grounding Blend Essential Oil

The woody aroma of dƍTERRA Balance Grounding Blend creates a sense of calm and well-being. It is a special blend of pure and potent oils that promotes tranquility and relaxation.

Put 3 drops of oil into your palms and rub your hands together. Cup your hands about 3 inches away from your face and do at least 5 deep abdominal breaths. On each exhale, say silently or out loud: "I am grounded and centered".

Then, rub the bottoms of both feet with your oil and cover your feet with comfy socks.

Now sit in hero pose as shown in the next column.

Hero Pose

Sit on your heels with a block between your feet as shown in the photo above. Spine is long and relaxed. Feel your connection to the earth through your shins and tops of your feet.

Mudra: Adhi

While sitting in hero pose, tuck your thumbs into your palms and curl the fingers around them lightly forming soft fists. Rest your hands on your thighs.

Take another 5 deep abdominal breaths feeling your breath move up your spine on the inhale and down your spine rooting down into earth on the exhale. Then, let the breath take on it own effortless rhythm and repeat silently to yourself: "I am grounded and centered."

When you feel complete say "thank-you".  When ready, stand, feeling your connection to earth through the soles of your feet.
